TERM TIME ONLY WORKING
Reporting to: Head Cook (overall Operations Manager)
The General Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Assistant Cook and Head Cook to ensure smooth kitchen operations. Initiative, multi-tasking, and teamwork are essential for the success of the kitchen team. This role involves significant physical work, including lifting heavy industrial catering equipment, moving tables and chairs, bending to retrieve hot containers from ovens, and serving food and drinks over service counters. As the face of Fresh Start to customers and visitors, professionalism and presentability are paramount.
Responsibilities:
· Prepare food as directed, typically cold items like salads and fruit, or other required food preparations.
· Serve food and support service as needed.
· Assist with daily deliveries, ensuring proper stock rotation and completing delivery checks.
· Perform cleaning tasks, including washing up, keeping work surfaces clean, and managing the dishwasher.
· Clean store areas, refrigerators, empty waste bins, and maintain ground-level drain areas.
· Maintain cleanliness in customer areas by clearing tables, returning used crockery to the kitchen, and restocking clean cutlery and crockery.
· Clean floors by mopping and sweeping, adhering to Health and Safety rules.
· Follow all cleaning policies set by Fresh Start.
· Support the kitchen with any other tasks as needed.
· Participate in scheduled deep cleans.
· Complete all necessary training, including: Safeguarding, Food Safety, Fire Awareness, First Aid, COSHH Training, Allergy Awareness
· Use correct equipment at all times, adhering to colour-coded charts for knives and boards.
·Follow all Fresh Start policies and procedures.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
