Purpose
The Senior Quality Manager leads the Quality and Safety function and partners with the CEO to build a proactive, compliant, and high‑performing culture of product quality, customer focus, safety, and environmental responsibility. The role ensures a robust and effective Business Management System that meets ISO 9001 and all relevant legal requirements, consistently protecting product integrity and customer satisfaction.
They oversee the site’s Process Improvement Programme, ensuring projects are delivered in a controlled, structured manner and handed over effectively to local process owners. The role also drives a closed‑loop approach to identifying, prioritising, and resolving systemic failures and non‑conformities across Holroyd’s management systems
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and deliver the QEHS Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Performance Measures.
· Lead the transformation from reactive to proactive quality culture.
· Oversee ISO 9001 Management System and ensure certification readiness.
· Supporting and enabling local business process owners to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their processes so they consistently meet internal and external customer requirements.
· Keeping the business informed and prepared for upcoming changes to relevant management system standards and SHE‑related legislation, ensuring continued compliance.
· Build self-sufficiency in Quality from the ground up, developing capability across the organisation through coaching and training.
· Lead governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
· Drive continuous improvement and problem‑solving culture across site.
· Provide leadership oversight and insight of Quality Engineering and EHS performance of the business.
· Represent the business to customers, regulators, and certification bodies.
· Act as final escalation point for major quality or safety issues.
· Develop a self-sufficient problem-solving structure and culture across all departments.
· Lead and manage the QEHS team, including recruitment and development.
· Contract owner for long term Quality and EHS consulting partners.
Experience & Qualifications
· At least 5 years proven track record of operating in a senior management team role in Quality within a manufacturing environment.
· Member of the Chartered Quality Institute, preferably Chartered.
· Possesses a strong background in design and manufacturing quality, with experience in the practical application of relevant tools and techniques to drive preventative quality
· Proven leadership in Quality and Safety, able to influence those both inside and outside of direct control
· IRCA Lead auditor, with experience of implementation and auditing of ISO management systems.
· Able to show they have maintained their technical expertise through ongoing learning and professional development.
· Proven experience applying Quality tools and methods, including facilitating advanced problem‑solving activities.
· Demonstrable positive influencing and communication skills with a track record of driving embedded Safety and Quality culture at all levels
· Remains calm, balanced, and in control under pressure, with a clear understanding of their own impact on others.
· Shows understanding and sensitivity when supporting colleagues who may be facing challenging or demanding situations.
· Uses strong interpersonal skills to encourage and uplift others, helping them stay motivated during difficult periods.
· Proven experience of playing a leading role in Health and Safety
Scope of the Role
This role has significant influence across the site, working closely with teams at every level to help them strengthen and improve their own processes. The Senior Quality Manager supports departments in making informed decisions, removing barriers, and embedding better ways of working.
- Leads and coordinates a wide range of complex activities, continually adjusting priorities to meet the changing needs of the business.
- Works with local teams to shape and refine site processes, ensuring they become more effective, reliable, and aligned with the company’s operational goals.
- Oversees all site audit activity, providing guidance on corrective actions and ensuring issues are followed through to completion.
- Helps cultivate a positive, collaborative culture where individuals and teams feel supported, respected, and able to contribute to improvement.
- Drives a structured, closed‑loop approach to identifying, assessing, and resolving recurring issues and non‑conformities within the site’s management systems.
The Senior Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring that all QEHS activities at Holroyd are delivered effectively and contribute directly to the successful execution of the site’s overall business strategy.
