HERD is all about quality ingredients, great food and genuine hospitality. We're looking for a reliable, organised Prep Chef to join our kitchen team and play a key role in ensuring every service starts with exceptional preparation.
This is an early morning role, ideal for someone who enjoys structured shifts and takes pride in consistency, organisation and working as part of a close-knit team.
The Role.
Working five days per week from 6:00am to 2:00pm, you'll be responsible for preparing the kitchen for service across the business. On occasion, you may be required to work evening shifts to support the needs of the business, including events, holidays or operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities.
- Preparing fresh ingredients to HERD specifications.
- Preparing meats, vegetables, sauces and garnishes.
- Ensuring all prep is completed to a high standard before service begins.
- Receiving and checking deliveries.
- Stock rotation, storage and maintaining accurate labelling.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and food-safe kitchen.
- Supporting the wider kitchen team during service when required.
- Minimising waste and helping maintain efficient kitchen operations.
About You.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous kitchen or food preparation experience (preferred but not essential).
- Is reliable, punctual and enjoys early starts.
- Has excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Can work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- Thrives in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Has a positive attitude and is willing to learn.
- Holds a good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
