We are looking for a motivated and organised Accounts Assistant to join our small but friendly finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone either with accounts experience or a high degree of numeracy who is looking to develop a long-term career in finance.
The successful candidate will commence in supporting the day-to-day running of the finance department, ensuring financial records are accurate and up to date. Over time with experience and an expansion of duties the role will evolve, encompassing study towards a recognised accounting qualification where appropriate such as the AAT.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing purchase invoices and supplier statements.
- Raising sales invoices and processing customer receipts.
- Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Processing employee expenses.
- Maintaining accurate accounting records and filing systems.
- Liaising with suppliers and customers to resolve account queries.
- General administrative duties within the finance department.
- Providing support to the Finance Manager and wider finance team as required.
- Reconciling bank accounts and company credit cards.
- Assisting with month-end procedures and reconciliations.
- Supporting the preparation of VAT returns and other financial reports.
- Assisting with payroll administration where required (confidentiality is a must for this).
About You - We are looking for someone who:
- Has preferably 2 years' experience in an accounts or finance role, although applications from candidates with less experience but with a high degree of numeracy who can demonstrate the right skills and attitude are welcomed.
- Has excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Is organised and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Has good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Is proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Has experience using accounting Sage accounting / Payroll software (desirable but not essential).
- Is eager to learn, develop and build a long-term career in finance.
- Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
