Maths and English Tutors – Part-Time
Appleby Learning is seeking enthusiastic, knowledgeable and dependable Maths and English Tutors to join our coaching centre. The successful candidates will provide engaging, high-quality tuition and help pupils improve their confidence, subject knowledge and examination performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver structured and engaging Maths and/or English lessons.
- Support pupils across relevant Key Stages, including GCSE and A-level where appropriate.
- Prepare lesson plans, learning materials and practice activities.
- Assess pupils’ abilities and tailor lessons to their individual needs.
- Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback to pupils and parents.
- Help pupils prepare for school assessments and public examinations.
- Maintain a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Follow the centre’s safeguarding, behaviour and educational policies.
Essential Requirements
Candidates must:
- Have achieved Grade A or above in both Maths and English at GCSE level.
- Have achieved Grade A or above in the relevant subject at A-level.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and the ability to explain concepts clearly.
- Be patient, professional, punctual and committed to pupils’ progress.
- Be able to teach in person at our centre on Friday afternoons and throughout the day on Saturdays.
- Have the right to work in the United Kingdom.
- Be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and any other appropriate safeguarding checks.
Previous tutoring or classroom teaching experience is desirable but not essential for candidates who can demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and teaching ability.
