Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced, organised and proactive Stores Operative to join our team.
The successful candidate will play an important role in the day-to-day running of our stores and warehouse operations, taking responsibility for stock control, goods inwards, order preparation and maintaining an accurate and well-organised stores environment.
We are looking for someone who has previous experience within a stores, warehouse or stock-control environment and is comfortable working independently, prioritising their own workload and taking ownership of their responsibilities.
This is a hands-on position within a small, busy team, so reliability, attention to detail and a willingness to get involved are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect and accurately record incoming stock and deliveries
- Check deliveries against purchase orders and report any discrepancies
- Maintain accurate stock records and ensure stock movements are correctly recorded
- Organise and maintain the stores and warehouse areas to a consistently high standard
- Pick, pack and prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently for dispatch
- Carry out regular stock counts and assist with stock reconciliation and discrepancy investigations
- Ensure products are correctly stored, identified and labelled
- Monitor stock levels and highlight shortages or potential issues to management
- Assist with goods-in and goods-out documentation and general stores administration
- Work closely with the sales and office teams to ensure customer orders are prepared and dispatched on time
- Maintain a clean, safe and professional working environment
- Follow company procedures and all relevant health and safety requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve organisation, stock accuracy and general stores processes
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within a stores, warehouse, stock-control or similar environment is preferred
- Good understanding of stock control and inventory management
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Confident using computer systems for stock management, data entry and general administration
- Good numeracy and communication skills
- Ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively without constant supervision
- Comfortable working within a small team and assisting in other areas when required
- Physically capable of carrying out manual handling duties, including lifting and moving stock
- Reliable, punctual and professional
- A proactive approach with a willingness to take responsibility and solve problems
The Person
We are particularly interested in someone who takes pride and ownership in their work. You should be the type of person who notices when something is not right and takes action rather than waiting to be asked.
Accuracy and organisation are extremely important to us, but so is having someone who can work efficiently in a busy environment and contribute positively to a small team.
For the right candidate, this is an opportunity to become an important part of the business and have a genuine influence on how our stores and stock-control processes are managed going forward.
