An exciting opportunity has arisen for an assistant psychologist to join the newly established North West London Infected Blood Inquiry (IBI) Psychosocial Support Service (IBI) at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. This service has been initiated following the IBI report’s recommendation of providing a bespoke psychological support service in England for those infected and affected by the contaminated blood products.
The post-holder will join the newly formed service, which consists of psychologists and a social worker, and will be integrated with the highly experienced and multi-disciplinary team of the Katharine Dormandy Haemophilia Centre and Thrombosis Unit, which is based at the Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead. The post-holder will provide clinical and administrative support for the psychosocial care offered by service and for the service development, auditing, supervision and training. The post-holder will be line-managed and supervised by a qualified psychologist.

The post-holder will be embedded within their service and, simultaneously, also belong to a group of over 40 psychological therapies, neuropsychology and counselling (PTNC) staff who work within a variety of medical specialities. These include Cancer & Palliative Care, Cardiology, Dermatology, Diabetes, Haemophilia, Hepatology, HIV, ICU, Immunology and Rare Disease, Nephrology, Neurology, Pain, Plastic Surgery, Respiratory, and Women’s Health. Research activity is positively encouraged and supported with opportunities to work collaboratively with colleagues. There is access to regular supervision from within the hospital and access to professional development.
