About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Junior Control Engineer to join our Engineering team.
This role is ideal for someone who has recently completed an apprenticeship, college course or university degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline and is looking to begin their career in industrial automation.
Working alongside experienced engineers, you will receive structured training while contributing to live customer projects from day one. Initially, your work will focus on creating graphical interfaces within our Imperium4 process control platform and producing PLC I/O documentation. As your experience grows, you will become involved in process control system configuration, testing, commissioning and customer support.
The role is primarily office-based in Nottingham, with opportunities to visit customer sites across the UK and internationally to support commissioning and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop graphical interfaces within the Imperium4 process control platform.
- Create, maintain and update PLC I/O documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist with the configuration, testing and commissioning of PLC software.
- Produce and maintain engineering documentation.
- Assist with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and internal system testing.
- Support senior engineers during commissioning and customer support activities.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues both remotely and on customer sites.
- Work closely with the Software, Projects and Support teams to deliver successful customer projects.
- Learn and apply company engineering standards and best practices.
Who We're Looking For
- Recently completed an apprenticeship, HNC/HND, college course or degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Electronic Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- A full, valid UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel occasionally within the UK and overseas.
Desirable
- Basic PLC programming experience.
- Experience with any programming language (such as C, C++, C#, Python or Java).
- An interest in industrial automation or software development.
- Knowledge of electrical control systems.
- Familiarity with SQL databases.
Previous industry experience is not required. Full training and mentoring will be provided.

Pay: Up to £30,000.00 per year
