Business Development Manager Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 per annum plus car allowance and commission structure
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth across our energy and sustainability services portfolio. This role is responsible for generating and converting high-quality leads, managing the full sales pipeline and developing long-term client relationships across energy efficiency, compliance and carbon reporting solutions.
A strong understanding of energy and compliance frameworks such as ESOS, SECR, and PPN 06/21 is highly desirable, as well as various energy procurement strategies across both fixed and flexible contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Builds and manages a high-quality sales pipeline covering short, medium, and long-term revenue opportunities to achieve targets across a range of products
- Builds and manages a wide stakeholder group to help influence decision makers and gain insight from emerging and growing markets
- Maintains full pipeline governance using CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce), ensuring accurate tracking from lead generation through to opportunity closure.
- Develops and executes customer engagement strategies across multiple channels, including in-person meetings, virtual sessions, events, and webinars.
- Responds to and leads complex tender submissions and RFP processes.
- Collaborates with Marketing to develop customer-facing materials, including presentations, newsletters, case studies and campaign content.
- Prices customer solutions and coordinates with internal teams for contract creation and submission.
- Acts as key liaison with Finance to ensure accurate and timely invoicing and revenue alignment.
- Manages inbound sales enquiries and qualifies opportunities effectively.
- Arranges and leads client meetings, coordinating relevant internal stakeholders where required.
- Ensures smooth handover from sales to operational delivery teams, completing all onboarding steps for successful service delivery.
- Acts as a single point of contact (account manager) for clients in relation to energy efficiency and compliance services post-sale.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven background in energy sales or sustainability services
- Experience in B2B consultative sales with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets
- Strong CRM experience (e.g. Salesforce or equivalent) with disciplined pipeline management
- Experience leading or coordinating complex tenders and proposals
- Ability to build and maintain senior-level client relationships
- Strong commercial awareness, including pricing and contract coordination
- Knowledge of energy supply contracts, metering or energy data analytics. Flexible energy procurement experience is highly advantageous
- Experience working with technical or compliance-led service offerings
- Exposure to sustainability, carbon reporting or energy efficiency markets
- Experience working in partnership-driven or channel sales environments
