We are a specialist gardening company focused on creating and maintaining beautiful, plant-led gardens to an exceptionally high standard. We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic gardener to join our team on a subcontract basis. The position is suited to a subcontractor willing to take on ad-hoc work
This role is ideally suited to someone who genuinely enjoys horticulture, takes pride in their work, and has a keen eye for detail. We are looking for an individual who understands that great gardening is about more than simply maintaining a space – it is about ensuring that plants thrive and that every garden looks its best throughout the seasons.
The successful applicant will be reliable, hardworking, and able to work carefully and methodically while maintaining high standards of presentation and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining a wide range of ornamental gardens to a consistently high standard
- Seasonal pruning, deadheading, cutting back and plant care to maximise year-round display and garden performance
- Planting, watering, feeding and general plant husbandry
- Identifying weeds, pests and plant health issues and taking appropriate action
- Lawn care including mowing, edging and seasonal maintenance
- Hedge trimming and shrub maintenance
- Using hand tools and powered equipment safely and efficiently
- Assisting with irrigation installation, maintenance and troubleshooting
- Maintaining clean, tidy and organised working areas at all times
- Ensuring gardens are left looking immaculate at the end of every visit
- Supporting planting schemes, garden improvements and occasional soft landscaping projects
Ideal Candidate
- Genuine passion for gardening and horticulture
- Good plant knowledge and a willingness to continue learning
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
- Ability to recognise what makes a garden look attractive, balanced and well-presented
- Reliable, self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Full UK driving licence preferred
