Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and versatile Crane Driver / Labourer to join our dynamic Engineering team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, operating heavy machinery and assisting with materials handling to ensure smooth project execution. Whether operating cranes or supporting general labour tasks, you will play a vital role in delivering quality results on time and within safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate both cab & pendant controlled gantry cranes, to lift and move heavy materials in a busy workshop environment.
- Assist with materials handling using chains, slings, and other lifting attachements to load, unload, and organize steelwork.
- Support engineering activities by preparing sites, assisting with equipment setup, and ensuring work areas are safe and organized.
- Conduct routine inspections of machinery cranes and lifting tackle to ensure proper functioning and report any issues promptly.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures diligently to maintain a secure work environment for everyone in workshop.
- General Labouring duties including slinging/signalling and keeping work areas clean and tidy.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating overhead gantry cranes (cab) in an engineering workshop environment is highly preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of lifting equipment and accessories.
- Valid commercial driver’s license with experience in commercial driving is desirable.
- Hands-on experience with materials handling and workshop operations.
- Knowledge of safety standards and practices.
- Previous engineering workshop experience combined with certifications such as crane operation is a plus.
