We are a 35 bedded acute admissions ward that accept admissions directly from our Emergency department within a variety of specialties such as orthopaedics, medical & surgical patients.

We are looking for experienced nurses who can demonstrate autonomous working, managing your own caseload, acute care skills and believe in patient centred care.

To document all patient details to the required standard in relation to the admission, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care using the EPR system.
To deliver a high standard of nursing care.
To communicate with families and significant others, involving them in the planning and delivery of care.
To co-ordinate patient discharges, supported when necessary, by the discharge planning team.
To manage clinical emergencies as required, ensuring that he/she is up to date with CPR training.
To use medical equipment safely and competently and to supervise others in its use.
To record and interpret vital signs, taking required action when they demonstrate deterioration.
To ensure that own practice and that of junior staff is evidence based.
To keep a personal portfolio and is able to identify personal learning needs.
To liaise appropriately with all members of the multidisciplinary team in a manner that promotes effective teamwork.
To support the sister/charge nurse in achieving ward/dept objectives.
To act as an advocate for the nursing team ensuring that clinical decisions are made with appropriate input from the nursing team.
To support and facilitate junior staff in their development, contributing to the learning environment by participating in ward teaching programmes.
To participate in trust wide programmes that enhance the quality of nursing care such as ‘Essence of Care’ and undertake ‘Link Nurse’ roles.
