The Dining Room Porter plays a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of the Dining and Bar service by ensuring dining areas are clean, organised, and ready for service. The role involves assisting with food and bar service, maintaining cleanliness and preparing dining areas for breakfast, lunch, dinner, conferences, and special events.
Job description
Reports to: Dining Room Supervisor
Functional relationships with: Hospitality Director, Dining Room and Bar team, Duty Managers
Duties:
· Assist with the preparation and set-up of dining rooms for breakfast, lunch, dinner and special events.
· Support the service team by serving food and beverages as required.
· Replenish water bottles and ensure water stations remain fully stocked throughout service.
· Clear tables promptly and maintain a clean and welcoming dining environment.
· Assist with resetting tables in accordance with service standards.
· Wash crockery, cutlery, glassware, pots and kitchen utensils using commercial dishwashing equipment.
· Ensure all cleaned items are stored appropriately and safely.
· Maintain cleanliness of pot wash and back-of-house areas.
· Dispose of waste and recycling in accordance with company procedures.
· Move tables, chairs and other furniture safely to meet operational requirements.
· Ensure dining areas are clean, tidy and presentable at all times.
· Transport wine, beverages and other stock safely from the cellar or stores to restaurant service areas.
· Assist with receiving, storing and rotating stock.
· Report low stock levels to the supervisor.
General Duties
· Follow all Food Safety, Health & Safety and Manual Handling procedures.
· Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the department.
· Work collaboratively with the kitchen and restaurant teams to ensure efficient service.
· Provide courteous and professional assistance to guests when required.
· Carry out any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.
· To operate in accordance with Cumberland Lodge’s health and safety procedures and policies at all times.

Person Specification
Essential Requirements
Experience
· Previous experience in hospitality, catering or customer service is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
· Experience of working within a team.

· Flexible and adaptable to changing business needs.

Physical Requirements
· Able to undertake manual handling tasks, including moving tables, chairs and equipment safely.
· Capable of lifting and carrying stock, including wine cases and beverage deliveries, in accordance with manual handling guidance.
Working Pattern: 5 hours per day, 4 days per week.
Examples of shifts are 10am to 3pm or 5pm to 10pm plus a 20 minute unpaid break
Cumberland Lodge is open Monday to Sunday and there flexibility is essential around business requirements as is the ability to cover annual leave (with notice)
The successful candidate must have access to a vehicle, as Cumberland Lodge is located remotely in Windsor Great Park without easy access by public transport.
Pay: £14,196.00 per year
