As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced and commercially focused Financial Controller to join our finance team. Working closely alongside our Accounts Manager and senior leadership team, this role will provide valuable financial insight, support operational decision-making, and help drive business performance across the organisation.

The Role
The Financial Controller will be responsible for providing meaningful financial analysis and commercial support across the business while assisting the Accounts Manager in maintaining a robust and efficient finance function.
You will play a key role in understanding contract profitability, fleet utilisation, project performance, and operational costs, ensuring management have the information needed to make informed decisions and deliver sustainable growth.
Key responsibilities
- Accounts management - producing timely monthly/quarterly management information for you to make decisions from
- Cash flow management - forecasting, monitoring, and managing working capital
- Budgeting and forecasting - building and tracking budgets against actuals
- Financial controls - implementing and maintaining proper processes and internal controls as the business scales
- Year-end support - working with us to streamline the annual accounts and tax process
- Produce timely and accurate monthly management accounts and performance reports.
- Analyse revenue, margins, operational costs, fleet performance, and contract profitability.
- Provide commercial insight and recommendations to support business growth and operational efficiency.
- Develop and maintain KPI reporting to monitor business performance.
- Support tendering, pricing, and commercial decision-making processes.
- Work collaboratively with operational, commercial, and senior management teams.
- Review and improve finance processes, systems, and reporting capabilities.
essential skills & experience
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with a few years' post-qualification experience
- Prior experience in a similar sized business
- Strong Excel and systems skills - experience with Xero accounting software
- Commercial awareness rather than just technical/compliance skills
