Reporting to: Operations Manager
Location: Sheriff Hutton, North Yorkshire
Salary: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications
Working Hours:
Day Shift: 39 hours per week
- Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (30-minute lunch break)
- Friday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
- Overtime may be required to meet customer deadlines
Role Purpose
The Storeman will manage the day-to-day running of the warehouses and stores and outside areas, ensuring efficient kitting of jobs for production, timely goods receipt and dispatch, and accurate stock control. Occasional driving duties may be required to support deliveries and collections.
Key Responsibilities
Kitting & Job Preparation
- Pick, prepare, and issue kits to production in line with schedules.
- Ensure all components are correctly labelled, checked, and staged for production.
Stores & Warehouse Management
- Organise and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient stores area.
- Ensure items are stored logically with correct stock rotation (FIFO).
- Follow H&S and COSHH regulations within stores, warehouses and yard areas.
Goods In / Goods Out
- Receive deliveries, inspect goods
- Dispatch finished goods accurately with correct documentation.
Stock Control
- Conduct regular cycle counts and full stock audits as scheduled.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Report low stock levels and support reordering processes.
Driving Duties (as required)
- Deliver or collect goods and materials locally and nationally using company vehicle.
- Ensure all driving complies with company policy and road legislation.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in a stores/warehouse role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Forklift licence preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Full UK clean driving licence is essential.
- Competence in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and other basic IT tools.
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational discipline.
