The charity currently has five stores with our flagship store in Wigan. These stores sell high street brands with discounts of up to 70% across all categories, homewares, clothing, gifts, toys, and accessories.

Role Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and capable Lead Mechanic to oversee the day-to-day operation of the Wigan Cycle Project workshop and retail space in the Rebuild with Hope Community Hub in the Grand Arcade Wigan.
The postholder will be responsible for delivering high-quality bicycle servicing and repairs, supporting bike sales and display standards, and helping to expand community engagement through training and partnership activity. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about cycling, community impact, and developing a local project with strong social value.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage the day-to-day running of the workshop, ensuring bicycles are serviced, repaired and prepared to a high standard.
· Oversee the presentation and management of the shop floor, including bike displays and customer-facing areas.
· Support the sale of refurbished bicycles and related services, providing a helpful and professional experience for customers.
· Support volunteers, helping to create a positive, inclusive and productive working environment.
· Deliver or support cycle maintenance training and practical learning opportunities.
· Build relationships with local community groups and partner organisations by delivering “build a bike” sessions as part of te Building Opportunities programme.
· Work independently on routine operational decisions while contributing positively as part of the wider team.
Essential Criteria
· Level 2 cycle maintenance qualification, or equivalent demonstrable professional experience in bicycle repair and servicing.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work both collaboratively and independently, with confidence in making day-to-day operational decisions.
· Experience of working with, supporting or coordinating volunteers.
Desirable Criteria
· Teaching qualification such as PTLLS, or equivalent.
· Experience of delivering training, workshops or community-based learning activity.
