Dispatch Operative

Strathmore Foods Ltd is looking for a reliable, detail-focused Dispatch Operative to help ensure customer orders are picked, prepared and dispatched accurately, on time and within specification.
This is a hands-on, physically demanding role in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. It also involves PC-based administration and the accurate completion of dispatch paperwork and records.
What you will be doing
- Read order acknowledgements and confirm the correct quantities for dispatch.
- Pick goods from stock pallets and build accurate customer orders onto pallets.
- Wrap pallets securely and insert the correct pallet labels.
- Record best-before dates, use-by dates and product temperatures accurately.
- Rotate stock and date codes, record stock deductions and assist with stock counts.
- Operate manual and electric pallet-moving equipment and a reach truck as required.
- Load and unload vehicles, and ensure drivers complete the required paperwork.
- Print orders and dispatch notes, and update relevant spreadsheets and records.
- Follow all company procedures, including food-safety and health-and-safety requirements.
What we are looking for
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to getting every order right.
- A reliable and organised approach, with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Confidence carrying out physical and manual tasks throughout the shift.
- The ability to work well as part of a team and communicate professionally with drivers and colleagues.
- Basic PC skills and confidence completing paperwork and electronic records.
- Flexibility with working hours and availability to participate in the Saturday rota.
- Experience using Sage 200 or Microsoft Excel would be an advantage, but is not essential; training will be provided.
Working pattern
This is a permanent position. The successful candidate must be flexible with working hours and will be required to work as part of the Saturday rota.
