Nature of job role:
To provide companionship and assist with a variety of social tasks
Main duties:
We are seeking a person who is keen to support a 65-year-old man who has a learning disability and lives in Bath. The main focus of the work will be to provide companionship and expand his social opportunities – according to his needs and wishes. R is a very sociable, likeable man who is seeking someone to accompany him on social visits and to support him to keep him connected to family and friends. The main focus of the work will include:
· Visits to cafes and charity shops
· Visits to towns, villages and places of interest in the area surrounding Bath
· Occasional visits to meet with family.
· There is no requirement to assist with personal care.
Hours of work:
1 day per week for 5 hours. Hours can be agreed but are usually 9.30am – 2.30pm. The day will be fixed but will be mutually agreed at the start of the contract. The preferred day is currently Thursday but this could be negotiated for the right person. R has a Blue Badge so has free parking for his PA when accompanied.

The person we are seeking will need to:
· Be trustworthy and have an enthusiastic outlook on life
· Be honest, reliable and punctual
· Have an understanding of learning disability or a willingness to learn
· Be able to build good relationships, based on trust and respect
· Be adaptable and flexible
· Have a good sense of humour
Preferred:
· Basic technical skills – e.g. can support R to use his tablet / laptop for emailing
· Strong communication skills
Have a driving licence, car and appropriate insurance. R has some mobility issues and walks with a walker so having access to a car is easier for him. R has a Blue Badge so has free parking for his PA when accompanied. However, he is very happy to use public transport, especially when accompanied by someone he trusts and who can adapt to his speed of getting around.

Pay: £12.71 per hour
