A primary and secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Southampton is seeking a dedicated and resilient Teacher to join the team on a full-time basis from September.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a skilled teacher who can support both primary and secondary-aged pupils and deliver either English or Maths to learners who may need a more tailored and nurturing approach to education.
The role
You will be responsible for teaching pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups of up to 5 students, planning and delivering engaging lessons that meet a range of needs and abilities. The role requires someone who can build positive relationships, create a safe and structured learning environment, and help pupils re-engage with education.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching experience
- Experience teaching primary and/or secondary-aged pupils
- The ability to teach English or Maths
- Confidence managing challenging behaviour
- A calm, patient and consistent approach
- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs and barriers to learning
What we are looking for
This role would suit a teacher who is adaptable, resilient and committed to making a real difference. Experience working within a PRU, alternative provision, SEN setting, or with pupils with SEMH needs would be highly beneficial.
