We are looking for a skilled and motivated MOT Tester / Vehicle Technician to join our growing team in Dorchester.
Based at our newly acquired central Dorchester garage, currently undergoing a complete refurbishment, you will work in a modern workshop equipped with the latest MOT testing and diagnostic technology. The facility will operate alongside our established tyre business, GCS Tyreworld, providing MOT testing, servicing, diagnostics and repairs for motorcycles, cars, and light commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes.

The Role
As an MOT Tester / Vehicle Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out MOT inspections, vehicle servicing, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs across both customer vehicles and our internal fleet.
You will play a key role in ensuring vehicles are maintained to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a qualified professional with a strong technical background and excellent attention to detail.
Ideally, you will hold DVSA MOT Tester Certification for Classes 1, 2, 4 and 7. However, if you are the right candidate, we are willing to invest in additional training and support to help you gain further MOT testing qualifications.
Essential Requirements
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- Qualified MOT Tester (Class 4 minimum)
- Strong vehicle diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good organisational and record-keeping abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- DVSA MOT Tester Certification for Classes 1, 2, 4 and 7
- Air conditioning service and repair experience or qualifications
- Experience working on vans and light commercial vehicles
- Knowledge of modern vehicle diagnostic systems and equipment
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct MOT tests in accordance with DVSA regulations and standards
- Manage MOT bookings and support the efficient operation of the MOT testing bay
- Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repair work when not undertaking MOT inspections
- Diagnose vehicle faults accurately and efficiently
- Repair and maintain mechanical, electrical, and air conditioning systems
- Maintain accurate service records and workshop documentation
- Support and mentor apprentice or trainee technicians where required
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure high-quality workmanship and customer satisfaction
- Follow all health and safety procedures and company policies
