Its fully racked warehouse in Basildon, with close links to the M25, offers flexible and secure storage options. Thames Group Services also collaborates with its sister company, Thames Security Shredding, to provide confidential shredding and waste management services, supporting clients with integrated logistics and compliance-focused services.
Role Description:
The Transport Planner is a full-time, on-site role based in Essex. This position is responsible for planning and coordinating daily transport schedules, optimising vehicle routes and loads, and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods. The role involves liaising with drivers, warehouse staff, and customers to manage bookings, resolve issues, and maintain clear communication. The Transport Planner will monitor transport performance, update planning systems, and support compliance with safety, legal, and company standards. The role also includes analysing transport data to improve efficiency and supporting the wider operations team with continuous process improvements.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Transportation Planning and Transport Modelling skills to design efficient routes and analyse transport performance.
Candidates should possess Transportation Management and Operations Management skills to oversee daily logistics activities and ensure smooth service delivery.
Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills to coordinate with internal teams, drivers, and customers in a clear, professional manner.
Relevant experience in transport or logistics planning within a fleet or warehousing environment is beneficial.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy in planning.
Proficiency with transport management systems, routing software, and standard office applications (e.g., spreadsheets, email).
Good knowledge of UK road networks, transport regulations, and health and safety practices.
A relevant qualification in logistics, transport, supply chain, or a related field is advantageous.
