Hours of work: Typically, between 10am – 5pm off peak and 9am – 6pm during peak periods.
We are at our busiest during weekends, bank holidays and school holidays.
Salary: NMW/NLW

Job Description
Working to the core values and operational standards of Blue Reef Aquarium, Newquay, the role of General Assistant will provide excellent standards of customer service at all times. Assisting in the running of retail, catering and visitor services departments in an efficient manner, maximising sales, and complying with all hygiene rules and regulations. You will provide a friendly welcome to the attraction, process ticket and retail sales, ensuring the efficient flow of visitors.
Duties/ Responsibilities
- When supporting retail, make an effective contribution to achieving sales targets including delivery of toys, annual passes, premium products, and other related saleable products
- Ensure saleable products are on display, correctly priced and that stock levels are maintained as appropriate.
- To be approachable, friendly, knowledgeable and engaging when dealing with customers.
- To assist in opening and closing outlets in accordance with procedures
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold food, as well as hot drinks, using a barista style machine.
- Ensure all food safety and allergen guidelines are followed.
- To be cost conscious with regard to wastage and portion size
- To maintain a safe and clean kitchen, servery and seating area at all times
- To operate the retail and admission tills, ensuring transactions are correct and efficient and that queues are well managed.
- Assist in the delivery birthday parties, to ensure they are fun and engaging exceeding customers’ expectations.

Essential Requirements

- Demonstrate good communication skills
- Capable of working efficiently
- To be flexible across 7 days, including bank holidays and school holidays
- Excellent timekeeping and attendance
