Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and physically capable General Labourer (Grounds and Events) to join our team. This role involves maintaining outdoor grounds, assisting with event setup and breakdown, and supporting various landscaping and construction activities. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, practical experience with horticultural tasks, and the ability to operate a range of tools and machinery. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills in grounds maintenance, landscaping, and event support within a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Carry out landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, pruning, planting, and turf care to ensure outdoor areas are well-kept and visually appealing.
- Assist with the setup and dismantling of event spaces, including installing temporary structures, furniture, and decorations.
- Operate hand tools such as spades, rakes, pruners, and other gardening implements safely and efficiently.
- Support the use of power tools and machinery including excavators, irrigation systems, and other equipment necessary for grounds upkeep.
- Perform general maintenance tasks such as repairing fencing, clearing debris, and maintaining pathways.
- Support construction-related activities as needed, including digging, lifting heavy materials, and assisting with site preparation.
- Ensure all work areas are kept clean, safe, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
- Assist in the installation of irrigation systems and other horticultural projects to promote healthy plant growth.
Requirements
- Previous experience in landscape maintenance or gardening is highly desirable.
- Practical knowledge of horticulture principles and gardening techniques.
- Ability to operate hand tools safely; experience with power tools is advantageous.
- Mechanical knowledge or experience operating machinery such as excavators or other construction equipment is preferred.
- Basic understanding of irrigation systems and general grounds maintenance practices.
- Physical fitness to undertake manual labour including lifting heavy objects and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Construction experience or familiarity with site preparation is beneficial.
- Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail to ensure high standards of work quality.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
