Step Into Teaching are recruiting ambitious graduates and final-year university students for full-time Graduate Teaching Assistant roles in a secondary school Birmingham (B42) for the 2026/27 academic year.
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates considering careers in teaching, educational psychology, SEN support, pastoral care or youth work. You’ll gain hands-on classroom experience, develop key skills, and support students who need help to access learning and reach their potential.
The Role
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help students succeed academically, socially and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support teachers during lessons across a range of subjects
- Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions
- Support students with SEN, SEMH or additional learning needs
- Help promote positive classroom behaviour and engagement
- Support learning through preparation of resources and materials
- Feed back on student progress and engagement to teaching staff
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment
The Opportunity
- Secondary School based in Birmingham (B42)
- Full-time, Monday–Friday (term time only)
- September 2026 start – full academic year placement
- £500–£530 per week, term time only
- Real classroom experience in secondary schools
- Excellent preparation for PGCE, teacher training or psychology pathways
