Overview
Quickskip Hereford Ltd is a fammily run busines and we are seeking a skilled and motivated HGV Technician / Heavy Plant Mechanic to join our maintenance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our fleet of vehicles, ranging from 7.5 t skip lorrys to 44 ton artics and plant equipment, to include , crushers, screens and wood chippers ensuring optimal performance and safety standards. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough four weekly inspections and diagnostics on heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and plant machinery using schematics and recording on our maintenmance software .
- Perform repairs and maintenance on equipment such as excavators, forklifts, and other heavy machinery, utilizing welding, fabrication, soldering, and mechanical skills.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to assemble, repair, or modify vehicle components according to technical specifications.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems and wiring harnesses to identify faults; repair or replace faulty components as needed.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete repair reports, and ensure compliance with safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
- Assist in the fabrication of parts or modifications to enhance equipment performance or adapt machinery for specific tasks.
- Support the team with heavy lifting tasks safely using appropriate equipment while adhering to health and safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as an HGV technician or heavy plant mechanic with strong mechanical knowledge.
- Demonstrated electrical experience including reading schematics and troubleshooting wiring systems.
- Skilled in welding, soldering, fabrication, and assembly of mechanical parts.
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and equipment repair techniques.
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures for excavators, forklifts, and other heavy machinery is highly desirable.
- Excellent customer service skills with a proactive attitude towards problem-solving and teamwork.
Pay: £52,000.00-£55,900.00 per year
