The Role
As a Construction Site CCTV Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of CCTV systems across construction sites throughout the UK.
This is a hands-on and varied role, ideal for someone with strong technical ability, practical problem-solving skills and a willingness to travel. You will work with a range of surveillance, networking and electrical systems to help ensure our clients' sites remain protected and secure.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure and commission CCTV systems on construction sites.
- Integrate CCTV equipment with existing network and electrical systems.
- Carry out routine maintenance, servicing and inspections of CCTV cameras, wireless equipment, solar CCTV towers, wiring and associated hardware.
- Diagnose and resolve faults relating to hardware, software, power supplies and network connectivity.
- Interpret technical schematics, system diagrams and installation plans.
- Work closely with construction site teams and project managers to coordinate installations and minimise disruption.
- Safely use hand tools and power tools to install, modify and repair equipment.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant health and safety requirements, electrical standards and site regulations.
- Travel to customer and construction sites located throughout the UK, which may occasionally involve overnight stays.
- Assist with the maintenance of our solar-powered CCTV towers.
- During the winter period, carry out battery maintenance and replacement, which will involve some heavy lifting and physical work.
- Maintain a professional attitude and represent Newvision Security Solutions to the highest standard while working on client sites.
- There is a weekend on call rota where 1 weekend a month you will be on call this carries a weekend retainer fee then a hourly rate if your needed to attened site in an emergancy.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate should ideally have:
- Experience installing, maintaining or repairing CCTV, security or related technical systems.
- A good understanding of computer networking, including connectivity and data transmission.
- Experience with electrical wiring and power supplies.
- Confidence using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Good mechanical and practical problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with computer hardware and surveillance equipment.
- The ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics and system diagrams.
- Construction site experience or an understanding of working within construction environments.
- A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- A willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK.
Experience with Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and other integrated security systems would be an advantage, but is not essential.
Essential Requirements
- A full UK driving licence, with no more than 6 penalty points.
- A Green CSCS Card or above is preferred. If you do not currently hold a valid CSCS card, training and support may be available for the right candidate.
- Applicants must be able to undertake physical work, including occasional heavy lifting.
- Applicants must be willing and able to travel throughout the UK.
