Job summary
As a Senior Mental Health Support Worker (non-registrant) you will support the delivery of high-quality, timely assessments and interventions within the Access to Intervention Adult Mental Health service, working alongside registered practitioners.
The role includes assisting in identifying risk, need, and appropriate care pathways, as well as facilitating onward referrals and signposting to appropriate statutory, voluntary, and community services. The post holder will help ensure that service users receive accessible, coordinated support that promotes recovery and well being.
You will also hold a defined caseload, delivering brief interventions and psycho educational support sessions tailored to individual needs. This includes promoting self-management strategies, building resilience, and supporting service users to engage with ongoing care and support networks.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will maintain effective communication with colleagues and partner agencies while ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping in line with professional and organisational standards. The role requires a compassionate, recovery-focused approach, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding, risk awareness, and delivering positive outcomes for service users.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
This role is focused on supporting people aged 18+ with mental health needs and their friends/relatives/carers, enabling and assisting them to meet daily health and wellbeing needs, in line with personal recovery goals.
The post holder will contribute to the ongoing assessment, planning delivery and review of activities and interventions against identified health and wellbeing needs, acting as care/recovery coordinator for an allocated group of service users, in accordance with the agreed personal care and recovery plan.
Your day-to-day role will include:
Completing Brief Intervention sessions with service users for whom this is deemed appropriate
Assisting with mental health assessments and undertaking associated follow up and onward referrals
Maintaining a caseload of service users, under supervision (direct or indirect) from registered practitioners
Documenting all contacts accurately, to agreed standards, within the specified time frame on the electronic patient record in accordance with the Trust Data collection systems and Data Protection Act
Working as part of a team of mental health practitioners, associate practitioners and administrative staff supported by a clinical nurse specialist and team lead
