About the role
Vectair Environmental Ltd is looking for a Water Hygiene Technician to support our healthcare contracts in Brighton and Haywards Heath.
The role will involve carrying out routine water hygiene compliance tasks, including TMV servicing, water sampling, shower head and hose replacement and associated site duties.
You will also support remedial works where required, working alongside and under the guidance of an experienced plumber.
This is a practical, site-based role suited to someone with water hygiene experience who is confident working in healthcare environments and understands the importance of accurate records, professional conduct and compliance standards.
Key duties
- Carry out TMV servicing, failsafe testing and associated checks.
- Complete water sampling, including Legionella, Pseudomonas and TVC samples.
- Replace shower heads, shower hoses and other minor water hygiene components where required.
- Carry out temperature monitoring and routine water hygiene compliance tasks.
- Support remedial works under the guidance of an experienced plumber.
- Record site findings accurately using company systems and paperwork.
- Report defects, access issues, failures and compliance concerns promptly.
- Work safely and professionally in healthcare environments.
- Maintain good communication with clients, site contacts and internal colleagues.
- Follow company procedures, risk assessments, method statements and client site rules.
Essential requirements
- Previous water hygiene experience.
- Experience carrying out TMV servicing.
- Experience taking water samples for Legionella, Pseudomonas and TVCs.
- Good practical understanding of domestic hot and cold water systems.
- Ability to complete accurate records and follow site procedures.
- Professional approach when working in healthcare environments.
- Manual UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Must be over 25 years old for company fleet insurance purposes.
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
- Able to travel regularly to Brighton, Haywards Heath and surrounding areas.
Desirable experience
- Experience working in NHS, healthcare, care home, education or other regulated environments.
- Experience replacing showers, hoses, outlets or minor plumbing components.
- Basic plumbing or remedial works experience.
- Legionella awareness training.
- TMV training or relevant water hygiene qualifications.
About you
You will be practical, reliable and comfortable working in live healthcare settings. You will understand that water hygiene work depends on accuracy, consistency and good communication, not just getting around site quickly.
You should be able to work independently on routine tasks, but also know when to escalate issues or ask for support. You will be supported by experienced plumbing and water hygiene staff, but we need someone who can be trusted to work professionally on client sites.
