JOB TITLE: Software Engineer
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain scalable software applications and data-driven solutions.
- Develop secure and reliable applications using Python, SQL and Snowflake.
- Build and optimise data pipelines, data warehouses and automated reporting workflows.
- Build and automate data-processing and reporting workflows.
- Design and integrate REST APIs for secure data exchange between systems.
- Implement CI/CD, automated testing, version control and software engineering best practices.
- Develop and deploy cloud-based solutions using AWS, Azure, Docker and Kubernetes.
- Analyse business requirements, troubleshoot technical issues and maintain appropriate technical documentation.
- Liaise with clients and stakeholders to deliver solutions according to agreed requirements and timescales.
- Ensure compliance with information security, data protection and quality standards.
- Working across the full software development life cycle.
- You will be working closely with your colleagues and will be involved in code reviews as well as identifying any room for improvement in their software, processes etc.
Skills and Experience Required:
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate:
- Strong commercial software development experience using Python.
- Strong SQL development and database experience.
- Experience with Snowflake and/or data warehousing technologies.
- Experience designing and developing scalable, data-driven software solutions.
- Knowledge and practical experience of cloud technologies, particularly AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
- Knowledge of software engineering principles, testing methodologies and CI/CD practices.
- Experience working with REST APIs and system integrations.
- Understanding of Docker and Kubernetes would be advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will normally be expected to possess:
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience;
- At least 3 years' relevant commercial experience with Python;
- At least 3 years' relevant commercial experience with SQL; and
- Relevant experience in software engineering, data engineering, regulatory reporting or comparable data-driven technology environments.
