Installer: Join Our Team!
The Bike Shed Company builds the best sheds around – they're made to measure, made to order and installed with care and skill. We need an Installer who can take pride in their practical and wood working skills and will be able to uphold our commitment to quality. Because install days are long, installers only work four days a week with every Friday off. If this appeals and you think you might be a good fit, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing:
Your role is key. You'll be installing our premium products at customer sites. That involves:
- Driving: Out on the road, often for several hours a day, getting our sheds to customers all over the country, with at least a couple of days a week driving to and from London.
- Installing: Expertly assembling and fitting our sheds. Every detail matters – you'll need a sharp eye and good skills with hand tools to get the perfect finish our customers expect.
- Problem-Solving: Things don't always go to plan on site. You'll need good practical skills to fix issues quickly and smoothly.
- Customer Facing: You're the face of our company! Being professional and friendly with customers is key.
- Team Work: You'll usually be with a teammate, sharing the driving and the work.
- Workshop Days (Mondays): You'll spend Mondays at our workshop, building sheds (and getting to learn the product) and preparing for that week's deliveries.
What You'll Need:
- Clean Driving Licence: Absolutely essential, given the driving involved. Our insurance only covers drivers over 21 years of age.
- Practical Skills: You're experienced with woodworking tools and have a great eye for detail and quality. Carpentry experience is a big plus, but not strictly required if you've got the aptitude.
- Problem-Solving Brain: Able to think on your feet and sort out any snags.
- Customer Charm: A professional and pleasant manner when dealing with customers.
Your Working Week:
You'll enjoy a four-day work week, completing around 40 hours with Fridays off every single week.
Where weeks are longer than 40 hours, you'll be paid time and a half for any extra hours you do.
Here's how your week will look:
- Mondays: A workshop day, together with the team, hands-on with the products and learning how everything comes together.
- Tuesday - Thursday: These are our installation days. Expect early starts from Bristol and late finishes (typically 11 hours) as we travel to customer sites. You'll always be with a teammate, sharing the driving. Days start and end at our workshop so commuting to and from this site both early and late is a requirement.
- Fridays: Your dedicated day off – enjoy a three-day weekend!
