HGV Class 2 licence essential
Fishers is one of the UK’s leading providers of linen and laundry services to hotels and restaurants. We are looking to recruit a Transport Team Leader to join our busy Coatbridge plant which can wash, dry and iron up to 600,000 pieces of linen per week.
Main duties will include:
- Arrange vehicle and driver resources to achieve efficient collection and distribution of goods. Continuously liaise with production, service and helpdesk to assist in improving overall plant performance. Plan deliveries and collections as stock level dictate.
- Cover driver holidays / absence where required by the Transport Manager. Note: As Team Leader duties will be minimal at the weekend some of these shifts will include delivering / collecting.
- Special deliveries/collections as required within working hours.
- Carry Transport Department mobile phone during duty hours to respond to driver / supervisor / management and customer queries especially important at weekends.
- Operate distribution within agreed cost structures. Continually strive to reduce operating costs and best practice.
- Ensure all accidents are reported and forms filled in on time. (the day of accident)
- Work with the transport Supervisor & Transport Manager to ensure the distribution operation is run in accordance with the Company’s Operators Licence
- Work with the Transport Manager to recruit and induct new drivers in the areas of customer skills and delivery routes.
- Continually review best practice regarding vehicle and driver safety and efficiencies with a view to reducing costs as a percentage of sales.
- Monitor driver’s hours to ensure ongoing compliance with the Working Time Directive and specific Drivers Hours’ Legislation.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times whilst maintaining an approachable attitude to employees
- Ensure that the fuel bay and surrounding land are kept in a clean and serviceable condition. (ie. Oil/add-blue-screen wash etc)
It is essential that you have a minimum of 2 years team leader experience and a background in transport, you must also hold an HGV class 2 licence.
