We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our growing team and drive the successful development and deployment of Private 5G solutions within the defence market.
This is a critical role offering the opportunity to shape the future of our 5G solutions and capability. You will be responsible for managing the full project lifecycle, working with internal teams, external vendors, and key stakeholders.
Location and Travel
- Primary business location is Farnborough, Hampshire.
- Position is an on-site role, 5 days per week
- Travel within the UK may be required.
Key Responsibilities
● Project Planning & Strategy: Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
● Execution & Delivery: Oversee and drive the execution of projects, ensuring adherence to quality standards, budgetary constraints, and agreed-upon schedules.
● Stakeholder Management: Proactively engage and manage relationships with all project stakeholders, including customers, internal engineering teams, commercial departments, senior leadership, external vendors, and regulatory bodies.
● Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle, developing contingency plans to minimise impact on delivery.
● Budget & Financial Control: Monitor project finances, track expenses, and ensure projects are delivered within budget.
● Resource Management: Effectively allocate and manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
● Progress Monitoring & Reporting: Provide regular, accurate, and transparent progress updates, including detailed reports on project status, risks, and performance metrics.
● Continuous Improvement: Champion continuous process improvement initiatives within project delivery, identifying lessons learned and applying them to future projects.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential
● Proven experience as a Project/Programme Manager in the Defence and/or communications sector.
● Demonstrable experience managing complex projects/programmes from inception to completion.
● PMP, PRINCE2, MSP, or equivalent.
● Exceptional leadership skills with a proven ability to motivate, inspire, and manage cross-functional teams.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences, including C-level executives.
● Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
● Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and work effectively under pressure.
● Solid financial acumen and experience in budget management.
● Problem-solving orientation with a proactive and results-driven approach.
● Experience with third-party vendor management.
● Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
● Understanding of 5G radio access network architecture, technologies, and deployment methodologies.
● Familiar with delivering projects in Defence (UK MOD, NATO etc.)
● ITIL certification is not essential but desirable.
Please note that the post holder of this role should be able to get security clearance up to SC level
