Job Summary
We're looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our Anaerobic Digestion operating team. You'll be the first line of defence for keeping plant equipment running — carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs across mechanical (and ideally electrical) systems, while also working as part of the wider operating team on day-to-day plant duties. This is a hands-on, varied role for someone who likes fixing things and understanding how a live industrial process actually works, not just following a maintenance schedule in isolation.
What You'll Be Doing
Maintenance
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on pumps, motors, valves, pipework, and mechanical plant equipment
- Diagnosing and repairing reactive/breakdown faults to minimise downtime
- Basic electrical fault-finding and maintenance where competent (training available)
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and reporting recurring or developing issues
- Sourcing parts, liaising with contractors/suppliers for specialist repairs, and helping schedule maintenance windows around plant operations
Operations
- Working as part of the site operating team on daily plant checks and routines
- Supporting waste intake, material handling, and general site operations as required
- Helping troubleshoot process-related equipment issues alongside operators and the Plant Manager
- General site housekeeping and adherence to safety protocols
What We're Looking For
- Solid mechanical maintenance experience — pumps, pipework, mechanical drives, general plant equipment
- Basic to intermediate electrical knowledge (desirable, not essential — training given)
- Comfortable working on live industrial plant, ideally with some exposure to computer-controlled systems
- Strong troubleshooting instincts and a proactive, methodical approach
- Basic understanding of workplace Health & Safety requirements (DSEAR/ATEX awareness a plus, given the site environment)
- Good communication skills — you'll need to hand over clearly between maintenance and operations
- Able to work shifts/flexibly and assist with overtime when needed
- Able to manage your own time and, after training, problem-solve independently
Nice to Have (Not Essential)
- Previous experience in AD, water treatment, food/beverage processing, or similar process industries
- Electrical qualifications (17th/18th Edition or equivalent)
- Telehandler or forklift license
Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
