Kitchen Assistant & Cafe Support We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant & Cafe Support team member to join our friendly independent cafe. This is a daytime role, ideal for someone looking for regular hours in a busy and growing cafe environment. Hours Approximately 16–20 hours per week initially. Typical shifts will be between 8.30am and 4.00pm Monday to Saturday with hours agreed in advance. Additional hours may be available to cover holidays, sickness and busy periods. The Role You will work alongside our chef helping to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen and cafe during our busiest periods. Duties will include: • Assisting with daily food preparation and kitchen tasks • Washing up and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen • Supporting food service during busy periods • Clearing and resetting tables • Assisting customers when required • Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness • Receiving deliveries and helping with stock rotation The successful candidate will also be trained to support other areas of the business, including operating the coffee machine during staff holidays and absences.
Previous barista experience would be an advantage but is not essential, as training can be provided. Development Opportunity We are particularly interested in someone who would like to develop their skills over time and become capable of supporting kitchen operations during staff holidays.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to learn all aspects of a small independent cafe and could develop into a more senior kitchen position for the right person as the business grows.
