Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with dietary guidelines and safety standards.
- Plan weekly menus that incorporate a variety of healthy ingredients suitable for young children.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, adhering strictly to food safety regulations.
- Monitor food storage conditions to ensure freshness and prevent contamination.
- Serve meals and supervising children during mealtimes to promote good eating habits.
- Collaborate with staff to accommodate special dietary requirements or allergies.
- Keep detailed records of food inventories, meal preparations, and safety checks.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen roles, preferably within childcare or similar settings is desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper hygiene practices.
- Strong skills in meal preparation.
- Ability to work efficiently as a solo cook with some support from the wider nursery team.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with staff and engaging with children during mealtimes.
- Certification in food safety is a plus but training can be provided on site.
