Senior Support Worker

Roles and Responsibilities
· To support the residential support workers to ensure that they are meeting the company policies and procedures in line with OFSTED regulations.
· To safeguard and promote the welfare and development of all our young people.
· To ensure that all young people’s needs are being met and recognise changes in behaviour that may include updating young people’s individual risk assessments, care plans.
· Ensure that our young people and adults working in the home are free from discrimination within the home and challenge any discrimination from outside the home.
· To ensure that the team are providing a safe environment that is meeting the needs of the young people that we are caring for.
· To undertake supervisions with residential support workers and recognise strengths and weaknesses within the team that need addressing to support professional development.
· To act as a key career or supporting key career this includes being that set person that the young person has a good trusting relationship with and feels comfortable and confident in talking to be able to express their views, wishes and feelings. In addition, updating care plans, risk assessments and putting child focused plans in place to best support the young people to flourish and grow.
· To support the team to ensure that we are following the young people’s risk assessments and placement plans following the homes ethos.
· To support the team to ensure that when a new young person Is welcomed to Vicarage House the transition goes smoothly and the child feels supported. In addition where the young person leaves our care supporting them so that this is done in a sensitive matter.
· To ensure that the team feeling supported in stressful situations.
· To be instrumental in overseeing your own progression and development.
· To ensure that each young person is supported in learning and taking responsibility for their actions within their understanding and according to age and disability.
· To ensure that the specific needs of the young people are being met, i.e. religious beliefs, cultural needs, diaries requirements and any medical treatments.
· To develop and maintain good working relationships with parents, social workers, schools and other professionals involved in the welfare of our young people.
· To ensure that education is promoted and supported and that each young persons ascendence in education is maintained.
· To ensure that all adults act in a professional manner
· To ensure that all policies and procedures as well as risk assessments are adhered to at all times.
· To ensure that any safeguarding matters are reported to the registered manager and any issues relating to child protection matters.
· To ensure that all adults working at Vicarage House are familiar with policies and guidance in relation to the care of our children and well as subsequent guidance.
· To ensure that all adults maintain confidentiality at all times.
· To ensure that you have written up any incidents/accident forms or restraint forms as applicable have been passed to the registered manager within the agreed timescale.
· To comply with the rota and meet the occupancy levels provided from the registered manager.
· To be aware of the health and safety regulations particularly as related to the upkeep of the building and its surroundings.
· Conduct supervisions with residential support workers and address matters of concern and if concerns are raised report these to the registered manager.

You will need:
- Experience in working in care with challenging behaviour.
- Preferably a level 3 NVQ in child care or related qualification, or willing to enrol on the course.
- A positive can do attitude and a great passion to work with young people.
