ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE
This role is a great opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their HR career. You need to be keen to learn and develop your skills and knowledge, especially within employee relations, as well as having a desire to develop as a professional HR expert. A basic to good level of understanding of HR and people processes is essential with a desire to build on this. You will be part of a small, high performing team and working in a fast-paced environment supporting a busy, operationally driven business. Providing timely advice on employee relations matters, such as flexible working, probations, unauthorised absence, disciplinary, welfare and absence management in line with company policies and ACAS best practise. There will also be the opportunity to be involved in ad-hoc projects, and work with the wider HR team.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a point of contact for managers on employee relations matters.
- Log and update employee relations cases for reporting purposes. Including saving files, documents and letters to employee Pfiles.
- Ensure employee relations matters are handled fairly and consistently in line with ACAS best practice, company policy, and legal requirements.
- Composing letters where required in line with the company policy or initiatives.
- Support the team with training with the delivery of training on subject of “employee relations”.
- Support operational managers with note taking during employee relations meetings where required.
- Lead on formal meetings when needed – addressing people issues and minimising risk.
- Support wider HR team in implementing people strategies and equality objectives.
- Work closely with your colleagues to drive and deliver on the HR teams goals and objectives.
- Work in partnership with the operational team to support and drive new HR related initiatives and continuous improvement through ad-hoc projects.
- Support the wider HR Team in delivering annual appraisal objectives/goals.
- Support the regional HR Manager during annual pay negotiations.
- Support the Operational team in continuous development of internal succession planning.
- Updating spreadsheets and composing accurate reports where required.
- Collating data and information for reports and support with audits.
- Dealing with payroll queries.
- Logging of payroll exceptions.
- Reviewing employee pay slips for inaccuracies.
- Providing ER advise to Managers as appropriate.
- Screen CV’s, arrange and hold interviews and support with the onboarding process.
- Ensure business adherence to labour costs by tracking labour expenditure in line with budget.
