Ontic , a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are now recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team where you'll support us in ensuring the ongoing integrity, performance and compliance of our products across their full lifecycle. This role will be based at our Bishops Cleeve site.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll join a collaborative engineering team where you'll work on technically challenging products, solve complex engineering problems, and make a real impact throughout the product lifecycle. The Role
As a Mechanical Engineer at Ontic, you'll provide technical support across a diverse portfolio of aerospace products, from new product introduction (NPI) through to in-service support and eventual retirement. Working within a highly regulated environment, you'll help ensure our products continue to meet demanding performance, quality and regulatory requirements.
You'll work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality and our customers to maintain design integrity, evaluate engineering solutions and support product improvements. Whether reviewing technical data, implementing engineering changes, investigating technical issues or resolving obsolescence challenges, you'll play a vital role in keeping our products reliable and compliant.
This role offers plenty of variety, with the opportunity to support redesign activities, evaluate new materials and manufacturing solutions, participate in root cause investigations, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that deliver real value to both our customers and the business.
About You
We're looking for a proactive Mechanical Engineer who enjoys solving engineering challenges and thrives in a collaborative environment. You'll be someone who can confidently manage multiple priorities within an agile working environment, build strong relationships across the business, and communicate technical information clearly to a variety of stakeholders.
You'll ideally have experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), product sustainment or design evaluation activities, together with an understanding of engineering change processes within a regulated industry.
To be successful, you'll bring :
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience within a design, manufacturing or product support engineering environment, ideally in aerospace or another highly regulated industry.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, engineering materials, manufacturing processes and structural components.
- The ability to interpret technical drawings and understand original design intent.
- Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis and engineering calculations.
- Experience supporting engineering changes, product improvements and technical investigations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to root cause analysis.
- Experience with CAD and PLM systems such as SolidWorks and Windchill would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams.
