Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an Assembly & Fastener Technician to join our manufacturing team.
The Role
This is a varied, hands-on role combining precision assembly with the installation of specialist fasteners and hardware into sheet metal components. Working from engineering drawings and production instructions, you will assemble products ranging from simple fabrications to complex electro-mechanical assemblies, ensuring they meet our high standards of quality and workmanship.
The successful candidate will support a variety of manufacturing operations, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work and likes every day to be different.
Key Responsibilities
● Install self-clinching fasteners including studs, nuts, standoffs, bushes and other hardware using specialist insertion equipment.
● Assemble sheet metal components, sub-assemblies and finished products in accordance with engineering drawings and work instructions.
● Fit mechanical and electrical components, hinges, locks, seals, gaskets, handles, castors and other customer-supplied hardware where required.
● Carry out light mechanical assembly using hand and power tools.
● Perform tapping, reaming, deburring and other finishing operations where required.
● Read and interpret engineering drawings and assembly instructions.
● Carry out in-process quality inspections and report any non-conformances.
● Ensure assemblies are complete, correctly built and ready for inspection or dispatch.
● Work closely with Fabrication, Welding, Powder Coating and Quality departments to maintain production flow.
● Maintain a safe, clean and organised working area.
● Support continuous improvement initiatives across the production department.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
● Previous experience in a manufacturing, assembly or sheet metal environment.
● Experience installing PEM® or similar self-clinching fasteners would be advantageous but is not essential.
● Experience of mechanical assembly or fitting work.
● Ability to read engineering drawings (preferred but training can be provided).
● Good practical skills and attention to detail.
● A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
● Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Pay: Up to £29,999.00 per year
