We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Herdsperson to join our dairy team at Quicke’s Traditional Ltd.

What will you do?
As part of our dairy team, you will:
- Assist with the daily management of our 300+ cow block-calving dairy herd.
- Milk cows in our 25:50 herringbone parlour and support the efficient running of the milking process.
- Help maintain excellent milk quality, including low Bactoscan and Somatic Cell Count levels.
- Ensure the milking parlour and associated areas are kept clean and well maintained.
- Support cow health and welfare activities, including mastitis treatment, lameness detection, foot trimming, and pre- and post-calving care.
- Assist with calving and our calf-rearing programme to help produce healthy, high-quality replacement stock.
- Operate tractors and rough-terrain handlers for bedding, housing, and other routine farm tasks.
- Carry out fieldwork, including fencing and supporting our grazing-based farming system.
- Follow all Health and Safety policies and recognised farming best practices.
- Contribute to a positive team environment and support the ongoing success of the dairy operation.
What are we looking for?
Essential
- A full driving licence valid in the UK.
- Experience and competence in operating tractors safely.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A practical, reliable, and proactive approach to work.
- Good attention to detail and a strong commitment to animal welfare.
Desirable
- At least one year’s experience in agriculture or dairy farming.
- Experience operating a rough-terrain handler or telehandler.
- Relevant rough-terrain handler or telehandler training or certification.
- PA1 and PA6 certificates.
- A relevant chainsaw qualification or certificate of competence.

Working hours: 50 paid hours per week, normally worked across five 12-hour shifts.
Each shift includes unpaid breaks totalling two hours.
Work pattern: Normally Sunday to Thursday or Tuesday to Saturday, depending on the assigned rota, with two days off each week.
Due to the nature of dairy farming, occasional additional hours may be required during busy periods.
Salary: Paid monthly.
Holiday
31 days paid annual leave per holiday year, inclusive of bank and public holidays. Due to the nature of the role, employees may be required to work on bank holidays.
