Nursery Practitioner
- Ideally Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in childcare wanted
- 21, 30 or 40 hours per week (3 or 4 days - 7.00/7.30-18.00 some flexibility with hours)

Purpose of post
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children.
- Deliver a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all children in the nursery.
- Support colleagues and contribute to a positive, effective team environment.
- Provide an enabling environment that supports children's learning and development in line with the EYFS.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Safeguarding & compliance
- Follow all nursery safeguarding procedures and ensure children are kept safe, secure and well.
- Ensure children are collected only by authorised individuals.
- Maintain confidentiality in line with nursery policies.
- Adhere to all statutory requirements, nursery policies and procedures.
Teaching Learning & Child Development
- Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate activities that meet individual children's needs and interests. Support in doing this is provided.
- Maintain accurate developmental records and learning journeys for key children.
- Share information professionally with parents, carers and relevant professionals.
- Support the implementation of the EYFS and contribute to weekly planning and themed activities.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work collaboratively with the Room Leader to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Support colleagues and contribute to a positive, professional team culture.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, parent's evenings and nursery events as required (if this occasionally falls outside of your hours overtime is paid).
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers and external agencies.
Operational Duties
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety and cleanliness at all times.
- Assist with daily routines including meal serving (there are inhouse chefs), snack organisation and general housekeeping tasks.
- Ensure the room environment is well-presented, organised and aligned with weekly planning.
- Respond appropriately to illness or accidents and record incidents accurately in EYlog.
Childcare & Pastoral Care
- Act as a key person, providing consistent emotional support and building secure relationships with children.
- Support children's personal care needs, including washing and changing.
- Promote positive social interactions, particularly during meal and group times.
- Provide an inclusive environment that meets the needs of all children regardless of background, ability or medical history.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
- Ideally Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification.
- Minimum 1 year experience in early childhood education.
- Ability to work flexibly within nursery routines.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and the EYFS.
- Access to own vehicle (rural location) free parking provided.
