£14.24 - £16.00 per hour | Flexible Part-Time Work | 8:30am - 3:30pm
SENDhelp is recruiting experienced Flexible Learning Support Assistants - SEN to support pupils within a specialist school in Wallington, Sutton.
This opportunity is designed for people who have experience supporting children or young people with additional needs but need their work to fit around other commitments.
Rather than committing to Monday to Friday every week, you can tell us which days you are available and we can offer you work on those days. Some cover will be arranged in advance, while other opportunities may become available on the morning itself.
This could work particularly well if you are studying at university, have childcare responsibilities, work part-time elsewhere or simply have set days during the week when you are available to work.
As a Flexible Learning Support Assistant - SEN, you will work alongside teachers and other support staff to help children and young people access their education and get the most from their school day.
Depending on the class and pupils you are supporting, you may be:
Providing 1:1 or small-group support
Helping pupils engage with lessons and activities
Supporting children and young people with a range of special educational needs
Encouraging communication, independence and positive engagement
Providing additional behavioural or emotional support where required
Supporting teachers with the day-to-day running of the classroom
Helping create a safe, positive and supportive learning environment
Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is required.
Your experience could come from a variety of settings, including:
SEN or mainstream schools
Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant roles
Support Worker positions
Residential care or supported living
Specialist childcare
Youth or community support involving children with additional needs
Experience supporting individuals with autism, learning difficulties, communication needs, complex needs or behaviours that may challenge would be particularly useful.
The main benefit of this opportunity is flexibility.
If, for example, you know that you are consistently available on Mondays and Wednesdays, you can give us those days as your availability. When the school requires additional support, we can then contact you to offer work.
You should be comfortable with some assignments being offered at short notice on the morning of the booking, and you will need to be able to work a full school day of approximately 8:30am-3:30pm when you accept an assignment.
There is no requirement to be available five days per week.
We also have full-time and long-term SEN Teaching Assistant and Learning Support Assistant roles available, so applicants looking for consistent Monday-to-Friday work are also encouraged to apply.
Pay: £14.24-£16.00 per hour
Hours: Approximately 8:30am-3:30pm
