Clepie Kids Club is seeking an enthusiastic Senior Practitioner to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to support high‑quality out of school care within a warm, nurturing and play‑rich environment.
The Senior Practitioner will work closely with the Manager to lead daily practice, support staff, and ensure children experience fun, safe and meaningful play opportunities. You will act as the responsible person on site when required and help maintain the high standards expected by the Care Inspectorate and SSSC.
Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday (term time). Additional hours may be available during school holidays.

- Has experience working with children in an out of school club or childcare setting

Qualifications: SVQ Level 3 (Children & Young People / Social Services) or equivalent. SSSC registration (or eligibility to register) is essential.
Job Description – Senior Practitioner
To support the Manager in delivering a high‑quality out of school care service. The Senior Practitioner provides leadership during sessions, supports staff practice, and acts as the responsible person when the Manager is off‑site.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Team Support
- Lead daily practice and support staff during sessions.
- Allocate tasks and ensure staff are utilised effectively across the setting.
- Provide guidance, mentoring and informal supervision to staff.
- Support induction of new staff and volunteers.
2. Play & Practice
- Plan, deliver and evaluate a wide range of play experiences.
- Promote children’s wellbeing, independence and positive relationships.
- Ensure environments are engaging, inclusive and safe.
- Support children with additional needs sensitively and appropriately.
3. Safeguarding & Compliance
- Act as the responsible person when the Manager is not present.
- Ensure policies, procedures and Care Inspectorate standards are followed.
- Maintain accurate records (attendance, incidents, medication, etc.).
- Uphold SSSC Codes of Practice and GIRFEC principles.
4. Communication & Relationships
- Build positive relationships with children and families.
- Provide clear, professional communication to parents/carers.
- Handle minor concerns or queries and escalate when appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with the Manager and wider team.
5. Operational Duties
- Assist with daily routines including snack, transitions and collection.
- Support risk assessments and health & safety checks.
- Contribute to quality assurance and improvement planning.
- Help organise resources, equipment and activity materials.
Person SpecificationEssential
- SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Children & Young People / Social Services
- Experience working in an out of school club or childcare setting
- Ability to lead and support staff
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Ability to act responsibly and use initiative
- SSSC registration (or eligibility to register)
Desirable
- Experience in a supervisory or senior role
- First Aid, Food Hygiene or Child Protection training
- Experience supporting children with additional needs
- Confidence in planning and evaluating play experiences
Pay: £15.00 per hour
