The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice is looking for a compassionate and motivated Befriender Coordinator to join our Outreach Team. In this rewarding role, you will coordinate and develop our therapeutic befriending service, supporting patients living at home and enhancing their emotional wellbeing through meaningful volunteer relationships.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing outreach service while working as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality palliative care.
About the Role
As a Befriender Coordinator, you will:
- Coordinate and develop the Hospice Befriending Service.
- Assess patients, carers, and families to identify support needs.
- Match patients with trained volunteer befrienders.
- Provide ongoing support, supervision, and training to volunteers.
- Develop personalised support plans and regularly review outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with hospice clinical teams and external partners.
- Promote awareness of the service and encourage referrals.
- Signpost patients and carers to relevant internal and external services.
- Assist with collecting and reporting service data and outcomes.
- Contribute to the development of outreach and volunteering initiatives across the Hospice.
The role includes occasional direct support and personal care for patients approaching end of life.
The successful candidate must have experience working with people with life limiting illnesses and have a driving licence and access to a car.
Pay: £22,408.00 per year
