Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and professional Driver specialising in 7.5 tonne vehicles to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating curtain sided lorries to deliver goods efficiently across designated local routes. This role requires a strong focus on safety, punctuality, and excellent customer service skills. The position offers an opportunity to work within a team in the manufacture enviroment , ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining high standards of vehicle operation.
There are regular routes, visiting regular customers with drops of 2/3 at a load.
Duties
- Safely operate a 7.5 tonne vehicle for scheduled deliveries and collections.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring secure placement on the vehicle to prevent damage during transit.
- Plan routes effectively to optimise delivery times and minimise fuel consumption.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after journeys, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and obtain necessary signatures upon completion of deliveries.
- Adhere to all road safety regulations and company policies during operations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules or any unforeseen delays.
Qualifications
- Valid Category C (7.5 tonne) driving licence with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with 7.5 tonne vehicles or similar lorries.
- Delivery driver experience is highly desirable, with an emphasis on safe handling of goods.
- Knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for vehicle operation.
- Ability to plan routes efficiently and adapt to changing schedules or routes as needed.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in documentation and vehicle maintenance records.
