About the Opportunity
We are delighted to be working with a growing children's residential care provider who are looking to appoint an experienced RI / Operations Manager to oversee two children's residential homes across Bradford and Rochdale.
This is a key senior leadership position, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to take responsibility for the operational performance, compliance and development of two services while playing an integral role in the continued growth of the organisation.
The provider is looking for an established senior professional who has previously held Operations Manager and Responsible Individual (RI) responsibilities and can demonstrate a strong, proven track record within children's residential care.
The Role
As RI / Operations Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across both homes, ensuring that the services consistently deliver high-quality care and positive outcomes for the children and young people living within them.
You will work closely with Registered Managers and the senior leadership team, providing direction, challenge and support while ensuring that the homes operate in line with regulatory requirements, organisational policies and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide effective operational leadership across two children's residential homes.
- Undertake the responsibilities of Responsible Individual (RI) for the services.
- Provide leadership, support and professional challenge to Registered Managers.
- Monitor the overall performance and quality of each home.
- Ensure services remain compliant with Ofsted regulations and the Children's Homes Regulations.
- Maintain strong oversight of safeguarding, risk management and children's welfare.
- Support Registered Managers with regulatory inspections and monitoring visits.
- Review and analyse performance, including audits, incidents, complaints and quality assurance data.
- Ensure effective quality assurance systems are embedded across both homes.
- Drive continuous improvement and support services to achieve and maintain strong Ofsted outcomes.
- Ensure children and young people receive high-quality, individualised care and support.
- Monitor staffing levels, recruitment, retention and workforce development.
- Support managers with performance management and staff development where required.
- Ensure effective communication between the homes and senior leadership.
- Identify opportunities for service development and operational improvement.
- Contribute to the strategic growth and development of the organisation.
- Build strong relationships with professionals, families, placing authorities and other key stakeholders.
- Ensure the organisation's values, policies and procedures are consistently implemented.
About You
The successful candidate will be an experienced children's residential care professional with a strong understanding of both operational management and RI responsibilities.
You will be confident operating at a senior level and able to provide both support and constructive challenge to Registered Managers and wider teams.
We are particularly interested in individuals who can demonstrate:
- Previous experience as a Responsible Individual (RI) within children's residential care.
- Previous experience in an Operations Manager / Regional Operations Manager capacity.
- A proven track record of managing multiple children's residential services.
- Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and children's residential legislation.
- Experience supporting services through Ofsted inspections.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding, risk management and quality assurance.
- Demonstrable experience improving service quality and outcomes.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- The ability to effectively challenge and support Registered Managers.
- Strong commercial and operational awareness.
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to the wider senior leadership team.
