A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small friendly team at the Westwood Lodge Care Home. We are looking for a talented Kitchen Assistant./ Cook to join our home whom is keen and eager to progress. We are a nursing home supporting adults with mental illness. We pride ourselves in helping people to stay well and live a fulfilling life.
About the Role:
As a Kitchen Assistant/Cook you will be part of the team within the Home providing excellent meals and nutrition to our residents.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities
- Create innovative menus and recipes
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and training as needed
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and quality standards
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment
- Collaborate with restaurant management to develop seasonal offerings
Skills and Experience:
· Previous experience working within an elderly care setting.
· Excellent communication and written skills
· Self-motivated, resilient and well-organised
· Team player but able to work on your own initiative
· Dependable, able to work well under pressure and flexible to meet the needs of the Home
· Previous supervisory experience within a care/nursing home setting and experience of working within mental health.

Skills:
- Proficient in all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking techniques, and plating
