Role: Skilled Assembly Operator
Description:
Skilled and detail-oriented individual within our aerospace assembly team. The Aerospace Assembly Operator plays a critical role in the assembly of complex aerospace components and systems, ensuring precision, quality, and compliance with industry standards and customer specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical assembly, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform mechanical assembly of aerospace components and subassemblies according to engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and quality standards.
- Assemble parts using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and jigs, ensuring proper fit, alignment, and functionality of components.
- Follow assembly procedures, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to complete assembly tasks accurately and efficiently.
- System Integration:
- Assist in the integration and assembly of aerospace systems and assemblies, including mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic subsystems, in accordance with system specifications and requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality assurance, and production, to ensure seamless integration and alignment of system components.
- Perform visual inspections and functional tests of assembled components and systems to verify conformance to customer specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and report any discrepancies, defects, or non-conformities in assembly workmanship, parts quality, or documentation to the appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Maintain accurate records of assembly activities, including assembly logs, inspection reports, and completion status, using manual or electronic record-keeping systems.
- Document assembly processes, assembly deviations, and corrective actions taken to address any issues encountered during assembly operations.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, procedures, and guidelines while performing assembly tasks, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), proper handling of hazardous materials, and safe operation of equipment.
- Participate in safety training programs, hazard assessments, and safety audits to promote a culture of workplace safety and prevent accidents or injuries.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities, such as lean manufacturing initiatives, 5S programs, and Kaizen events, to enhance assembly processes, increase efficiency, and reduce waste.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvements, tooling enhancements, and workflow optimizations to support overall productivity and quality objectives.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or vocational training in aerospace assembly, mechanical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in mechanical assembly, preferably in the aerospace industry or a similarly regulated environment.
- Familiarity with aerospace assembly techniques, procedures, and materials, including fasteners, adhesives, and sealants.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, assembly diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination, with the ability to use hand tools and operate assembly equipment safely and effectively.
- Attention to detail and a focus on quality, with the ability to perform accurate and precise assembly work under tight tolerances.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve production goals and meet customer expectations.
