We are seeking a full-time on-site role for a Workshop Technician located in Westhill, Aberdeenshire. The Workshop Technician will be responsible for assembling, testing, and maintaining telecommunication and security systems. Daily tasks include interpreting technical drawings, wiring, and configuring equipment, troubleshooting, and ensuring all work complies with safety standards. The role also involves collaborating with internal teams to deliver projects on time and to specification, occasionally providing technical support to clients.
Key responsibilities
- Construction and wiring of racks and consoles following technical drawings encompassing design layout, ensuring simplicity and rigidity.
- Be responsible for spotting any discrepancy and raise the issues to the Engineering team for a timely resolution.
- QA duties for rack builds ensuring a consistent level of quality.
- Overseeing the installation of technical equipment and systems in cabinets.
- Interconnection of racks, consoles and field equipment in accordance with drawings for FAT.
- Manufacturing of steelwork for brackets to enable secure fixing of equipment.
- Ensure build compliance to design of all items assembled in the workshop.
- Suggesting workshop efficiency savings.
- Raise any health and safety issues during Toolbox talks.
Qualifications & Experience
- An NC in electrical engineering or equivalent would be an advantage but not essential.
- 2+ years of related work experience (preferred).
- Proven work experience as an Installation Technician and working with technical drawings.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Experience in telecommunication systems assembly and wiring
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and follow detailed instructions

- Ability to crouch, kneel and work in confined areas for extended periods.
- Ability to lift heavy objects.
- Ability for occasional travel (<10%) to local and international sites.

- Knowledge of safety standards and practices in an industrial setting
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
