Salary: From £28,000 per year | 40 hours per week
We’re opening an exciting new Montezuma’s store in the heart of Chichester — and we’re looking for a passionate, energetic Retail Store Manager to make it truly magical.
This isn’t just a chocolate shop. Our new store will combine the world of Montezuma’s chocolate with a coffee shop, creating a unique experience where great products, brilliant service and genuine hospitality come together.
We’re looking for someone who loves people, thrives in a fast-paced environment and knows how to lead a team to deliver an exceptional customer experience every single day.
Hospitality, café or coffee shop management experience is essential for this role, alongside proven retail management experience.
What You’ll Do
Create an Exceptional Customer Experience
- Deliver the absolute highest level of customer service, making every visit feel special
- Build a customer-focused culture where the team genuinely cares about every customer
- Lead from the front and create a warm, welcoming and memorable store experience
- Proactively respond to customer feedback and turn insights into action
Lead & Develop Your Team
- Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing team
- Provide clear direction, coaching and regular performance feedback
- Create effective rotas that balance excellent customer coverage with budget
- Build a positive, fun and supportive working environment
- Identify training needs and help every team member reach their potential
- Ensure the team is fully trained and confident across both retail and coffee shop operations
Run an Outstanding Store
- Maintain exceptional standards of store presentation and visual merchandising
- Ensure the store operates smoothly and efficiently in line with Montezuma’s standards
- Oversee health, safety, food hygiene and security compliance
- Lead by example and be hands-on wherever needed
Drive Sales & Performance
- Analyse sales performance and take action to drive results
- Monitor budgets and control costs effectively
- Report weekly insights on products, performance and customer feedback
- Identify opportunities to grow sales, customer loyalty and profitability
Manage Stock
- Oversee ordering, deliveries, storage and stock rotation
- Conduct monthly stock takes and maintain accurate stock records
- Keep the stockroom organised, efficient and well managed
- Ensure excellent product availability while minimising waste
Lead the Coffee Bar
- Oversee the preparation and exceptional service of coffee and other drinks to company standards
- Ensure all team members are trained to Barista level
- Maintain the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness
- Ensure coffee equipment is properly maintained and cared for
- Create a coffee shop experience that complements the magic of Montezuma’s chocolate
About You
You’ll be a natural leader who enjoys being at the heart of the action. You’ll be passionate about people, great service, food, drink and creating memorable experiences.
We’re looking for:
- Proven retail management experience
- Essential hospitality, café or coffee shop experience
- Strong leadership, communication and people skills
- Experience managing and developing a team
- A commercially astute approach, with a focus on driving sales and managing costs
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene
- An energetic, positive and hands-on approach
- Someone who leads by example and isn’t afraid to get stuck in
- A genuine passion for delivering outstanding customer experiences
